How do you tell the difference between a 250 and a 292 head? '67 thru '74 would be a good vintage range to limit the discussion to. I had always assumed the 292 head had stronger springs, bigger valves and maybe larger chamber volumes. I've never owned a 250, so I don't know first hand. In the junkyard, is there any telltale marking to look for? I know they're the same casting, but how can you tell them apart? What happens when you put a 250 head on a 292? And what if you put a 292 head on a 250?
