I read on here about guys doing head swaps. I've done many searches on here to find old posts that explain more to me, but all I find is more swaps for different reasons either to get better flow or different compression. I found out from the old posts that all the heads for 194, 230, 250, and 292 are interchangable. I have a 292 and am going to be taking the head off while replacing some gaskets and doing some other work over the winter and was thinking about getting some head work done, but is there a different head I should get to work on where I would get more power or better results from? I don't know too much about head swaps and can't find many answers on my own about. It would be awesome if any of you guys could shine the light on the subject for me and drop some advice on where I should start for a good head to work on if the one on my 292 is not a good start. I don't know if it is the original from '68, but it is the kind with the removable intake and all that like the old ones so it may be the original. Thanks \:D ~John~

It seemed like a lot of guys get the heads ported for more flow so I was figuring something like that where the ports are matched to what I think was the exhaust and intake. I don't know too much about the subject, but I've heard guys talk about how there is a lot more power to get out of the heads. So as long as the rest of the block was in good shape, I thought some good head work would get me some more power. That is basically what I want to do and what I want from the build...more power. Is that possible with a mostly stock engine and a good head? I just don't know where to start or what to do for an inline. I saw some websites about doing head porting but it is always for a V8.
