New to the site and new to inline six performance.

Just wondering about twin smaller turbos' being feesable..

Maybe not cost effective but any advantages of spooling?

seems as if the plumbing, mounting would be simplified.

any thoughts ?

Welcome to the site!

With todays turbos,transmissions w/high stall & lock-up converters,you can have a very streetable car,quick turbo spool up, that can also be very fast w/a single turbo.

Depends on what your goal is.

Bragging rights ,saying you have a twin turbo 6?

You want the best of both worlds,very mild manner street car using the small turbo & the larger turbo takes care of the mega HP for the top end?

For the most part,a well planned out single turbo system is all what most people only need & will satisfy you very well.

My goals would be a mild mannored daily driver ,nothing that requires high stall and unreasonable idle and driveability.

Current project is the beginning of a tube framed 62 chevy fleetside sectioned and channeled to S-10 dementions.

Because of being something different I wanted the power plant to be something different as well.

I have a 235 at my disposal but I think for my needs the 292 might be the better fit.

Inexperieced thinking out loud..... but I guess what I was thinking was maybe donor turbos off a import might be practical in price/availability and the smaller twin turbos be enough boost at daily driving and plenty when turned up.....

You can use those cheap $$$$ Ebay new turbos for your application.

A 292 low boost,plenty of torque.

233 is too heavy & a 292 would be able to take more abuse.

I'm not sure if this would even make sense but... could you run one turbo off of the first three cylinders and one off of the last three? or would that just be stupid and inefficient? Couldn't the turbo pressure from the 4-6 cylinders go into the 1-3 cylinders and spool the turbo and vice versa so that it actually would work well?

Gary Light (Inliners VP) has been doing some interesting things with twin turbo's seperating the exhaust so there are no overlapping pulses and achieving higher impeller speeds, so 3 turbos' on a six??? , ,

I was wondering if maybe a guy could get a set of the cast stovebolt headers with a Clifford or Offy intake and a 4 barrel, run dual exhaust,drive it for a while then down the road if I wanted to turbo it fab up dual J pipes and use 2 smaller turbos and yet be able to keep all the parts I'd already bought to run normally aspirated.
Just thinking out loud.

I was thinking with some ability/creativity it wouldnt be too hard to create some exhaut header/flanges for a twin turbo set-up.

I believe that is a 2.3 Ford, which makes it a bit easier.

Been thinking about this a bit and I think the way to go would be to plumb both turbos into an intercooler and basically use the intercooler as a merge collector. I already have 1 GT25 sitting here so I'm halfway there (yah right). LOL.

A turbo friend/builder of mine suggest this...single turbo, blow thru carb, 66- 72 mm comp wheel,65 - 68 mm turbine and tune it a tad rich
